service opportunities summer 2010

continues during the summer months! Three different mission trips are currently
being organized and planned for the summer of 2010. Each trip will focus on our
ability to come together and serve others while enjoying the fellowship of all
involved. Together, we can continue to do God’s work with

MEXICO
Who: Completed 7th- 12th grade, college
students & adults

Space: 25 person minimum

When: July 22nd- Aug. 1st

Where: Saltillo, Mexico

Estimated Cost: $300-$400
(includes $50 deposit, does not include
passport fee)

Our work will include:
  • Construction work in church buildings
  • Leading morning VBS time with children
  • Building relationships with children  & adults

Our evening activities will include:
  • Fiestas with church communities
  • Exploring the mountains in the area
  • Enjoying views & activities in parks in Saltillo
  • Other fun (and safe) adventures in Mexico

To break up the travel we will enjoy a river
float in Texas and some brief site-seeing and
shopping in San Antonio.

MINNEAPOLIS/ST.PAUL

Who:  Completed 6th-8th grade

Space: Limited to 12 Youth

When: August 5th- 7th

Where: Minneapolis/St. Paul Area

Estimated Cost: $50-$70
(includes $50 deposit)

Description of Trip:
Provide youth the opportunity to serve
others within Rochester and
Minneapolis/St. Paul areas.

Pastor Nelson and Darcy Youngstrom
will be organizing this trip utilizing
various contacts in the Rochester
community and in Minneapolis/St.
Paul area.                   

Our group may serve at places like:
  • Feed My Starving Children (www.
    fmsc.org)
  • The Center for Changing Lives
  • (www.centerforchanginglives.org)
  • Local Rochester Agencies/Groups

Evening activities will include
devotional time and a reflection on the
day’s activities. Housing
accommodations will be at local
churches.

ST. LOUIS

Who: Completed 9th-12th grade

Space:  Limited to 10 Youth

When: August 1st- 7th (does not
include travel dates)

Where: St. Louis, Missouri

Estimated Costs: $200-$300 (includes
$50 deposit)

Description of Trip:

Our group may serve at places like:
  • Homeless Shelters
  • Elderly Centers
  • Children's Programs

Evening activities are designed to give
participants insight into the lives of
local residents and the culture of the
area. A list of activities we have done
in the past include:
  • Visit the Famous Gateway Arch
  • Community Cookout
  • Attend a Local Church Service
  • Community Educational Experience

We will be using the organization  
YOUTH WORKS to coordinate this
experience! Youth Works deals with
many different sites in the US and
Internationally.  Please take a look at
